Diane Orado is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. She opened the doors of Cumming Counseling and Play Therapy after 33 years of working as a school based counselor. Her desire is to work with children, adolescents, and young adults helping them grow, develop and thrive. When she is not working she loves to cook, practice yoga, bike and spend time with her family which includes her husband of 36 years, two teenage daughters, three dogs and a cat.

Diane earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University her Master’s degree from Georgia State University. She keeps current in the field of counseling by attending national conferences, reading, and conferring with colleagues in the field.

Diane specializes in working with children, adolescents and young adults. With young clients and adolescents she collaborates with caregivers so that positive changes can take place at home and school. With adolescents and young adults, goals will be developed together, and she will work with the client to accomplish these positive changes and develop strategies, which they can utilize in everyday life. Check-ins are utilized with the adult caregivers.

Play therapy, Sandplay, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy are approaches used in the therapeutic process. Young people respond to these approaches easier than traditional talk therapy. When entering Cumming Counseling and Play Therapy one will feel safe and cared for. The rooms were designed to be playful and nurturing. We want our clients to grow stronger, and for the families we work with to thrive.
