Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs)

BFRBs include trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder) and dermatillomania (skin picking disorder), as well as nail biting, nail picking, cheek biting, etc. As many as 1 in 20 people have a BFRB, but they can be dismissed as “bad habits.” While BFRBs share some symptoms with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), they’re not the same.
